What to Expect After Requesting SAP Services
After contacting us or selecting D. Wyllie as your Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) in the DOT Clearinghouse, we’ll guide you step-by-step through the SAP evaluation and return-to-duty process, ensuring compliance with D.O.T. federal regulations.
Step 1: Initial Contact & Scheduling
Once selected in the Clearinghouse, we will reach out to schedule your SAP evaluation.
During this call, you’ll receive guidance on what to bring and how to prepare for your evaluation, such as:
Employment history in safety-sensitive positions.
Details of your DOT violation and test results.
Documentation of any past substance use treatment, if applicable.
Step 2: The SAP Evaluation
A thorough assessment will be conducted to understand the nature of your violation, substance use history, and contributing factors.
This evaluation determines the appropriate course of action, which may include education, counseling, or treatment programs.
Step 3: Referral to Treatment or Education
Based on the evaluation, you will be referred to a DOT-compliant program tailored to your specific needs.
Examples of programs may or may not include:
Substance use education workshops.
Counseling sessions or outpatient treatment.
We’ll ensure your program meets DOT Part 40 standards.
Step 4: Monitoring Progress
We’ll track your progress as you complete the recommended program and provide support throughout.
Once you’ve successfully completed all recommendations, we’ll prepare your final report.
Step 5: Final SAP Report & Return-to-Duty Test
After fulfilling the program requirements, a report will be submitted to your employer or designated employee representative or consortium regarding your compliance.
You’ll be eligible to take a return-to-duty drug and/or alcohol test administered by your employer.
